Devon Park (OKC Softball Park), Oklahoma City
Devon Park · Oklahoma City
How a group gets to Devon Park in Oklahoma City, the softball venue for LA 2028, which is nowhere near Los Angeles, and what the park is like to arrive at today. Written for the park as it runs for major softball events.
Venue
Devon Park, which LA28 calls OKC Softball Park, is a softball-specific ballpark in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the single Olympic softball venue for 2028. It is about 1,300 miles from Los Angeles, in the Central time zone, and a group planning a Games trip needs to treat it as a separate trip, not a day out from LA. LA28 describes it as the premier softball-specific ballpark in the United States, and it has hosted the Women's College World Series and the WBSC Softball World Cup. It sits close to the OKC Whitewater Center, another Games facility. This guide describes the park as it runs for major events today.
Gates & entry
Fans must enter with clear bags, so check the sizes for your event before you travel and leave anything else at your accommodation. Gate times differ by event, so take them from your ticket. Expect a security check on the way in, and agree a meeting point outside the gate before your group goes through it.
Getting there
Devon Park is in the Adventure District of Oklahoma City, near the crossroads of I-35 and I-44, about six miles from downtown and about eighteen miles from Will Rogers World Airport. Recent event guidance says there is no general public parking at the park because of construction for a new practice facility, so a group should not plan on driving up to the gate. The options it names are: a shuttle from Remington Park, just off Northeast 50th Street, where parking is available (event guidance describes it as free and running about every ten minutes from three hours before the first game, but confirm the current schedule); and an EMBARK express bus from downtown (buses ran about every 15 minutes from the Convention Center and Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark), which costs about four dollars round trip (check embarkok.com for current fares and youth rules). NCAA event guidance lists ADA parking at $20 per vehicle per day; confirm availability and placard rules with the venue. Games-period transport is not confirmed.
Neighborhood
The Adventure District is a cluster of attractions, museums and event venues rather than a walkable downtown, so plan food and meeting points in advance. Downtown Oklahoma City is the better base for restaurants and hotels, and the express bus links it to the park.
Safety & security
The general emergency number in the United States is 911. Oklahoma summers are hot and humid, and storms can arrive quickly, so plan for heat, sun protection and water, and follow venue instructions if play is suspended. Agree one meeting point and time before anyone goes through a gate, and note which shuttle stop you used so everyone can find the return.
Photos
The park's red-dirt infield and wide sky are the picture, best in the last hour of daylight. Camera and equipment rules vary by event, so check before you bring more than a phone.
Local know-how
English is the working language. For visitors from Europe the distance matters: Oklahoma City is a long way from the rest of an LA itinerary, so build in travel time and, if you are following the Games on a tight schedule, consider flying. College softball crowds are lively and family-friendly, and much of the park is exposed to the sun. Check payment arrangements before you travel.
Accessibility
Event guidance lists ADA parking at $20 per vehicle per day, and the Remington Park shuttle is described as ADA equipped; confirm access with the venue. This guide does not describe accessible seating or step-free routes, and has not verified accessibility on the EMBARK bus. Contact the venue directly about seating and access before you book.
